If the Flyers make Rasmus Ristolainen available for trade, these three teams could be in the mix.
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has been a trade candidate for multiple seasons now. That certainly could carry over to the summer, as the big right-shot defenseman is entering the final season of his contract in 2026-27.
Due to this, let's look at three teams that could target Ristolainen this off-season if the Flyers make him available for trade.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens were linked to Ristolainen leading up to the deadline, so they could be a team to keep an eye this summer when it comes to the veteran defenseman. The Habs could use a boost on the right side of their blueline, and Ristolainen would give them just that if acquired. When looking at Montreal's current roster, Ristolainen could fit nicely on a pairing with Michael Matheson if acquired.
Boston Bruins
Sticking in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins also would make sense as a suitor for Ristolainen. The right side of their blueline is one of their biggest weaknesses, and it has been since they traded Brandon Carlo to the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. It could get even weaker if Andrew Peeke ends up signing elsewhere this summer. Due to this, it would make sense if the Bruins targeted Ristolainen this off-season.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers should be looking to strengthen their defense this off-season after a quick playoff exit. Adding a top-four shutdown defenseman to their right side would be big for them, so a player like Ristolainen could fit perfectly on their roster. He would give them an upgrade over pending UFA Connor Murphy on their second pairing and would be a clear option for their penalty kill.
