This former Flyers defenseman is having a strong season with the Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes are once again one of the best teams in the NHL this season. At the time of this writing, they have a 42-19-6 record and are at the top of the Metropolitan Division standings with 90 points.

Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere is certainly one of the several reasons behind the Hurricanes' strong 2025-26 season so far.

Gostisbehere has been putting up some strong offensive numbers from the point, as he has 11 goals, 32 assists, and 43 points in 45 games this campaign with Carolina. This is after he had seven goals and 45 points in 70 games this past season with the Hurricanes.

Gostisbehere has not slowed down as the season has rolled on, either. In his last four games with the Hurricanes, the former Flyer has recorded two goals and five points.

Gostisbehere has been sidelined with a lower-body injury, but once he gets back to action, he should continue to make a real impact for the Hurricanes. It is no secret that he is capable of making a big impact offensively when playing at his best, and he has done that this season with the Canes.

In 381 games over seven seasons with the Flyers, Gostisbehere had 60 goals, 159 assists, and 219 points. This included him having a career-high 65 points in 78 games with Philly in 2017-18.
