This former Flyers defenseman has signed an extension with the Maple Leafs.

As Denver Barkey heads back to the London Knights after spending the last couple of months watching the Philadelphia Flyers' training camp from the sidelines, he reflects on his recovery from illness and coming back a stronger player than before.

Former Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Phillipe Myers has signed a two-year contract extension with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He will carry a $850,000 cap hit starting next season.

Myers, 27, signed a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs during this past off-season. In 11 games this season with the Leafs, he has two assists, 15 blocks, 29 hits, and a plus-1 rating. He also has zero points and a plus-2 rating in three games with their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.

Myers spent the beginning of his NHL career with the Flyers. In 115 games over three games with the Metropolitan Division club, he had six goals, 29 points, 191 hits, and a plus-2 rating.
