The Flyers' decision to sign Christian Dvorak ended up being the right one.
The Philadelphia Flyers made multiple moves this past off-season. One of them was signing center Christian Dvorak to a one-year, $5.4 million contract in free agency.
When noting that Dvorak recorded 12 goals and 33 points in 82 games with the Montreal Canadiens the season before, some were surprised to see the Flyers sign him to a contract with an AAV over $5 million. However, the gamble paid off, as Dvorak took his game to a new level this season with the Flyers.
In 80 games this season with Philadelphia, Dvorak scored 18 goals and set new career highs with 33 assists and 51 points. Due to his strong play, Dvorak cemented himself a spot in the Flyers' top six and saw time on both of their special-team units.
Dvorak was rewarded for his strong play this campaign, too, as he signed a five-year, $25.75 million contract extension with the Flyers back in January. With this, he will be a long-term part of the Flyers' plans as they look to continue to head into the right direction.
Overall, it is hard not to be happy with what Dvorak provided during his first season with the Flyers.
