The Flyers should consider kicking tires on Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram this summer.

One of the Philadelphia Flyers' objectives this summer should be to improve their blueline. Their top four, in particular, could use a boost.

When looking at potential trade candidates to watch during the off-season, one player who stands out as an interesting potential option for the Flyers is Buffalo Sabres defenseman Bowen Byram.

Byram is no stranger to the rumor mill, and it makes sense when noting that the Sabres have a surplus of left-shot defensemen. If the Sabres were to make Byram available this off-season, the Flyers would be wise to kick tires on him.

If the Flyers acquired Byram, he would give them an impactful puck-moving defenseman who could fit anywhere in their top four. This is because he is capable of playing both the left and right sides. He would also provide them with another option for their power play and penalty kill if acquired.

At 24 years old, Byram would have the potential to be a strong fit on a team on the rise like the Flyers. This is especially so if the Flyers could convince Byram to sign a contract extension with them if acquired, as he will be entering the final season of his deal in 2026-27.

In 82 games this season with the Sabres, Byram scored 11 goals and set a new career high with 42 points. With numbers like these, he would be an exciting pickup for a Flyers club that needs blueline help.
