Everyone wanted to talk about Connor McDavid's historic performance against the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 2.
Everyone except Flyers head coach John Tortorella.

McDavid recorded a five-point night in the Flyers' 5-2 loss to the Oilers, including his much-anticipated 900th career point, making him the fifth-fastest player in NHL history to reach the milestone.
During post-game interviews, Sportsnet columnist Mark Spector attempted to ask Tortorella about McDavid's massive achievement, but the Flyers coach didn't even let him finish the question before curtly saying, "I'm not speaking on the other team, speak on my team."
This isn't the first time Tortorella has earned the ire of Oilers fans regarding their superstar player. Back in 2021, Tortorella made some controversial remarks stating that McDavid had to change some aspects of his game in order to take his team deep into the playoffs.
"He complained about it a little bit, that he wasn't getting the calls," Tortorella said. "Quite honestly, and I hope I say it correctly: Just shut up. Don't talk about it. I do think he has to change his game a bit.
"He's talked about culture, he's talked about standards, he's talked about winning. You're not just going to fill the net during the playoffs and outscore teams. You have to play on the other side of the puck," Tortorella continued.
McDavid did, however, seem to get the last word in. At a press conference shortly after Tortorella made his comments, the Oilers forward was asked if deserved more penalty calls. His response: "I guess I just gotta shut up about this."
The Flyers will be back home after a grueling road trip, taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. EST.
