Could the Flyers add another skilled forward to this prospect pool at the draft?
The Philadelphia Flyers took a major step in the right direction this summer. While this is the case, they are also a team that is still focused on the future.
Because of this, the Flyers will be looking to strike gold with their first-round pick this year. In a recent article for The Athletic, Scott Wheeler predicted that the Flyers would select forward Nikita Klepov with their first-rounder this year.
If the Flyers landed Klepov with their first-round pick this June, he would undoubtedly be a fascinating addition to their prospect pool. The 6-foot forward just had a monster year with the Saginaw Spirit, as he recorded 37 goals, 60 assists, and 97 points in 67 games. His 97 points were also the most in the entire OHL, so it was a special year for Klepov.
Due to this, if the Flyers ended up selecting Klepov with their first-round pick, he would give them another very skilled offensive forward in their system. The potential for Klepov to emerge as a top-six forward in the NHL is there, so it would make sense if Philadelphia at least considered him if he is still available when they are on the clock.
It will be interesting to see if Klepov ends up being the Flyers' first-round pick this year. Yet, given the season he just had, it is certainly possible that another team will select him before the Flyers get the chance to.
