The Flyers should make this move with their red-hot forward.

Philadelphia Flyers forward Noah Cates had a quiet start to the 2024-25 season. In his first 24 games, the 6-foot-2 forward had just five points. However, he has undoubtedly broken the ice since then.

Cates has played excellently since his cold streak, posting six goals and 12 points over his last 15 games. This included a five-game goal streak from Dec. 18 to Dec. 28. With numbers like these, Cates has been one of the Flyers' top offensive contributors as of late.

Due to his recent impressive play, Cates now has seven goals, 17 points, and a plus-7 rating in 39 games this season. This is after he had six goals and 18 points in 59 games last season.

With Cates starting to reach new heights, the Flyers should seriously consider signing the 25-year-old forward to a contract extension. The Stillwater, Minnesota native is a pending restricted free agent, and it would be significant if the Flyers got him signed to a new deal before the summer is here. This is especially so when noting that he has formed wonderful chemistry with Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink.

From here, it will be interesting to see what the Flyers do with Cates. If he continues to play so well for the Metropolitan Division club, it will only help his chances of landing an extension before the season is over.
