The Flyers will be making the seventh pick at this year's draft after all.

The Flyers finished the regular season with the seventh-worst record in the NHL, putting them in position to make the seventh pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

As it turns out, that's exactly where they'll end up making their first-round selection after the Monday night's draft lottery.

The Flyers had a 6.5% chance of winning the lottery. But instead, the Chicago Blackhawks were the lucky team to win the No. 1 overall pick, giving them the right to nab prodigy Connor Bedard with their selection.

The Blackhawks were the only team to move up in the draft order (they were originally set to make the third pick), and since they were already slotted ahead of the Flyers, the Orange & Black stayed put.

With the Flyers locked in at No. 7, several of the top prospects available in this year's draft will likely be out of their reach. Bedard is basically guaranteed to go first overall while Adam Fantilli, Leo Carlsson, and Will Smith are all expected to be chosen somewhere in the top five.

An interesting option for the Flyers, should he be available, is Russian forward Matvei Michkov. Under normal circumstances, Michkov would be in consideration for the top pick, but given the political climate in Russian, and the fact that he's under contract in the KHL through the 2025-26 season, it's possible he could slide down many teams' draft boards. Could he slip to the Flyers? And would they even be willing to take a chance on him? It's anyone's guess.

Other names to take note of at No. 7 include Dalibor Dvorsky, Oliver Moore, Andrew Cristall, and Brayden Yager.

Round 1 of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft is set for Wednesday, June 28, in Nashville, Tennessee.
