This Flyers forward has the potential to break out next season.
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Alex Bump certainly left a good first impression this season. In 17 regular-season games with the Metropolitan Division club, he posted five goals, four assists, and nine points. He also scored two goals in six playoff games for the Flyers this spring.
Down in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Bump recorded 11 goals, 15 assists, and 26 points in 36 games. With these, it was a solid all-around year for the 2022 fifth-round pick. This is especially so when noting that this was his first full season playing professionally.
Yet, now that Bump has gotten into some NHL action, it would not be surprising at all if the 6-foot forward has a breakout year for the Flyers next season.
Bump has shown a lot of promise and has the potential to become a solid NHL player. He certainly showed his offensive upside at the collegiate level. As a freshman at Western Michigan University in 2023-24, he posted 14 goals and 36 points in 38 games. He then followed that up by recording 23 goals and 47 points during his final season with the school in 2024-25. With this, it is clear that he a lot of offensive potential.
If Bump can take that next step next season, it would be huge for a Flyers club that is on the rise. It will be intriguing to see what kind of season the young forward can have in 2026-27, but it is hard not to feel optimistic about his future in Philly.
