The reunion we all needed in 2024.

The Philadelphia Flyers have been having quite the road trip so far. Back to back convincing wins against the Wild and the Jets have both the team and the fans feeling optimistic about where the second half of the season is headed.
Besides beating the best team in the league with standout performances from Sam Ersson and Cam Atkinson, fans were treated to the news that former Flyers center and Winnipeg native Nolan Patrick attended the game and caught up with his old team afterwards, including close friend Travis Konecny.
Patrick and Konecny's bromance was incredibly endearing to Flyers fans during Patrick's time in Philadelphia. The two lived in the same apartment building (in separate units) and did almost everything together, with Konecny even tying Patrick's suit ties and getting stuck in their building's parking garage while traveling to games together.
Patrick has had quite the rollercoaster career since being drafted second overall by the Flyers in 2017. Despite some flashes of brilliance, many argued that he never quite justified his second overall draft position, and wasn't living up to his full potential. This was further complicated in 2019, when Patrick began experiencing headaches while exercising in the off-season, causing his performance to suffer. This eventually led to being diagnosed with a migraine disorder by a neurologist at the University of Michigan—a condition which apparently ran in Patrick's family and is not believed to be caused by hockey.
Although the Flyers did retain Patrick for about a year after his diagnosis, he was eventually traded to the Nashville Predators, then later the Vegas Golden Knights, and is currently an unrestricted free agent. There were rumors in December 2023 that Patrick had officially retired from the NHL to work as a coach and mentor to young players, but it was eventually confirmed that he had not retired from professional hockey.
