Former Philadelphia Flyers forward Valtteri Filppula has found a new home. According to Sami Hoffren and Marko Lempinen of Helsingen Sanomat, Filppula is set to sign with Jokerit of Finland's second-tier league, Mestis.

Filppula, 40, certainly knows Jokerit well. He spent his junior years and began his professional career with the club before transitioning to the NHL. Now, he is heading back to the club and will look to make a big impact.

Following the completion of his NHL career after the 2020-21 season, Filppula spent each of the last three seasons with Geneve-Servette HC of the Swiss National League. In 51 games last season, he posted 11 goals and 33 points.

Filppula appeared in 1,056 career NHL games over 16 seasons split between the Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Flyers, and New York Islanders, where he had 197 goals and 530 points. In 101 games as a Flyer, he had 16 goals and 41 points.
