It has now been over three weeks since the start of NHL free agency. Because of this, most of this year's top unrestricted free agents (UFAs) have been signed.

Although this is the case, there are still some notable UFAs who are looking for their new deals. In fact, a former Philadelphia Flyers netminder is the best goalie on the free-agent market right now: Cam Talbot.

Talbot still being a UFA at this stage in the off-season comes after he had a rough 2025-26 season with the Detroit Red Wings. In 34 games with the Atlantic Division club last season, he posted an .883 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against average.

Although Talbot struggled last season, he has a strong resume and could bounce back if given the chance to play for another team. Keep in mind that from 2019-20 to 2024-25, he had a .900 save percentage or better in five out of those six seasons and was an All-Star twice over that span. He has also had a save percentage under .900 only three times in his 13-year NHL career.

With that, it is possible that Talbot could land a contract before the start of the season. However, at 39 years old, he is also a retirement candidate.

In four games with the Flyers during the 2018-19 season, he posted a 1-2-0 record, an .881 save percentage, and a 3.70 goals-against average.
