The Flyers must be ecstatic with this new prospect's play.

At the 2026 NHL trade deadline, the Philadelphia Flyers traded forward Bobby Brink to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for defenseman David Jiricek. This was after Brink was the subject of trade rumors for several months.

The Flyers taking a chance on a former first-round pick like Jiricek makes sense, as the right side of their blueline could use a boost. Furthermore, at just 22 years old, he still has plenty of time to break out.

Jiricek is currently playing in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. So far, it is fair to say that he has been impressing, as he is off to a very hot start with the AHL squad.

In five games with the Phantoms since the trade, Jiricek has two goals, four assists, six points, and a plus-1 rating. This included him recording a goal and an assist in Lehigh Valley's contest against the Providence Bruins on March 18. He also had three assists against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on March 14.

Seeing Jiricek having such a hot start with Lehigh Valley is undoubtedly encouraging. It will be interesting to see how he continues to perform from here and if he lands a call-up to Philadelphia's roster before the season is over.
