In yet another twist in the rumor-fueled offseason saga between the Philadelphia Flyers and goaltending prospect Alexei Kolosov, a report has come out from Anthony Di Marco saying that Kolosov is not expected to report to the Flyers' preseason camps.
While neither party has confirmed or denied the report, Kolosov has been the center of a drawn-out, dramatic series of events since last season ended in April.
Rumors began swirling that Kolosov was feeling homesick while playing with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, reportedly frustrated with his lack of game time and a general feeling of loneliness since his teammates did not speak the same language as him.
He returned to his native Belarus during the offseason to train with his former team, the KHL's Dinamo Minsk, and further reports emerged that Kolosov allegedly was refusing to return to the Flyers organization.
The 22-year-old goalie was not present at the team's development camp back in July, but GM Danny Briere squashed any rumors by reminding fans that Kolosov is contractually obligated to report to the Flyers' rookie and training camps, which begin this week.
Briere made it clear that the organization were not open to reaching any alternative agreements with Kolosov, who reportedly was looking for a way to get out of his current contract so that he could play in the KHL for the 2024-25 season.
The Flyers have yet to announce their rookie and training camp rosters, but with rookie camp starting later this week and training camp beginning in just over one week, time is running out of time to find a solution before he officially breaches his contract.
