The Flyers will receive Nikita Grebenkin, a right winger currently playing for the Toronto Marlies in the AHL, and the first-round pick in 2027.
In addition to Laughton, first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Maple Leafs will receive a 2025 fourth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Drafted to the Flyers in 2012, Laughton has become a staple in Philadelphia, deeply admired and respected by his teammates, coaches, and team management. He was named alternate captain in 2022.
The 30-year-old was also one of the most prominent voices of LGBTQ+ inclusion in the NHL, dedicating a significant amount of his time and resources to supporting local charities that support LGBTQ+ youth in the Philadelphia area.
Before the trade was announced, head coach John Tortorella spoke on his relationship with Laughton in a press conference, calling him "a very good friend of mine," and that "no matter what happens...that's a guy I truly respect and love that's always gonna be part of me."
