It was Hockey Fights Cancer night at the Philadelphia Flyers game tonight.
The Philadelphia Flyers lose to the Carolina Hurricanes by a 4-1 score. It's obviously disappointing to see them lose, they helped make a special memory for a fan.
Tonight was the Flyers Hockey Fights Cancer night. They decided to honor a young cancer fighter, Owen Micciche.
The nine year old had his own locker in the Flyers locker room, skated a rookie lap during warm-ups and got to read the opening lineup in the locker room.
Additionally, they gave Micciche an opportunity to stand behind the bench with the players and coaches.
Micciche was diagnosed with cancer at six months old. In July, two new tumors were discovered.
Some things are bigger than hockey, and what the Flyers organization did for this young man is something him and his family will never forget.
