On Thursday night the Philadelphia Flyers battled hard against the New Jersey Devils - overcoming a two goal deficit twice to tie the game, force overtime and gain a point.
One of the biggest moments of the game was the successful killing of a five-minute boarding penalty against Garnet Hathaway.
Garnet Hathaway hitting Luke Hughes. The penalty kill impressed John Tortorella last night. Deservingly so - they only surrendered one goal on five opportunities against the top power play in the NHL.
Tortorella shared his unprompted thoughts on the call, "It never should of been a five minute penalty. It never should of been a penalty."
"It was a clean hit."
Garnet Hathaway.Regardless of the coach's thoughts, it was called as a penalty on the ice. Hathaway also received a 10 minute game misconduct penalty. At that point they were already playing down a forward with Joel Farabee riding pine because of him "not listening" to Tortorella.
At this time, there is no supplemental discipline coming for Hathaway.
