Although he's still on the Injury Reserve with a week-to-week lower body injury, it was announced on Jan. 26 that Owen Tippett had signed a massive eight-year contract extension with the Flyers, worth a total of $49.6 million.

Tippett had been enjoying a successful season—including a very real goal of the season candidate against the Dallas Stars—but was sidelined after an awkward collision during the Flyers' Jan. 20 game against the Ottawa Senators.

During his press conference, Tippett said that there are "a lot of moving parts" to what the Flyers are building, but ultimately, he and his family felt "really comfortable" in Philadelphia. He added, "This is where I want to be. This is home now."

Before getting injured, Tippett had 30 points on the season (18 goals, 12 assists) and was one of the key contributors to a Flyers offense that had been seriously heating up in the first half of the season. As of right now, there is no definitive timeline for Tippett's return.
