A former head coach and former player will be representing their divisions at this year's All-Star Game.
Former Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette, who is now in charge of the New York Rangers, has been named one of the four head coaches representing their divisions at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game. Jim Montgomery (Boston Bruins) will represent the Atlantic division, Rick Bowness (Winnipeg Jets) will represent the Central division, former Flyers player Rick Tocchet (Vancouver Canucks) will represent the Pacific division, while Laviolette will represent the Metropolitan division.
This will be Laviolette's fourth time being named as an All-Star Game head coach, the most times among active coaches. He first appeared in 2011 while coaching the Flyers, then in 2015 and 2018 while coaching the Nashville Predators. Tocchet has appeared in four All-Star games a player (1989, 1990, 1991, 1993), but this will be his first time appearing as a coach.
