If Anthony Mantha does not re-sign with the Penguins, they should consider targeting these two free-agent wingers.
Anthony Mantha proved to be an excellent addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins' roster this season. In 81 games with the Penguins, he set new career highs with 33 goals, 31 assists, and 64 points. Despite having a rough post-season, the 31-year-old forward should be getting a nice payday for his next deal.
However, given how well Mantha played this regular-season on his one-year deal, it would not be surprising if he decided to test the free-agent market. If he does end up signing elsewhere, the Penguins should be on the hunt for another winger to replace him.
Because of this, let's look at two pending UFA wingers who the Penguins should consider targeting if Mantha ends up not re-signing.
Bobby McMann, Seattle Kraken
Bobby McMann stands out as an interesting potential target for the Penguins. The Wainwright, Alberta native just had a strong season, as he set new career highs with 29 goals, 17 assists, 46 points, and 165 hits in 78 games split between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Seattle Kraken. With numbers like these, he would have the potential to be a strong addition to the Penguins' top nine.
Mason Marchment, Columbus Blue Jackets
Mason Marchment is another winger who would make sense for the Penguins to target as a Mantha replacement. Marchment would give the Penguins a 6-foot-5 power forward who produces solid offense if they successfully signed him. In 68 games this season split between the Kraken and Columbus Blue Jackets, he had 19 goals, 45 points, 84 hits, and a plus-17 rating.
