Three former Penguins are among the players who hit waivers on Sep. 25.
With the 2026-27 regular-season rapidly approaching, a handful of former Pittsburgh Penguins have been placed on waivers.
Former Penguins players Brandon Tanev, Pierre Olivier Joseph, and Oskar Sundqvist are among the players who hit the waiver wire on Sep. 25 in the NHL.
Tanev was placed on waivers by the Utah Mammoth. This comes after the 34-year-old winger had a tough first season with Utah in 2025-26, posting just three assists and a minus-15 rating in 56 games.
Tanev spent two seasons with the Penguins from 2019-20 to 2020-21, where he posted 18 goals, 41 points, and a plus-11 rating in 100 games.
Joseph was placed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes. This comes after the 6-foot-2 defenseman posted one goal and six points in 31 games with the Vancouver Canucks during this past season.
Joseph played five seasons over two stints with the Penguins, where he had eight goals, 38 points, and a minus-11 rating.
As for Sundqvist, he was placed on waivers by the St. Louis Blues. In 52 games last season for St. Louis, he posted five goals and 17 points.
Sundqvist played in 28 games with the Penguins over two seasons from 2015-16 to 2016-17, where he recorded one goal and four points.
