These three Penguins have been named top trade candidates.
A few notable Pittsburgh Penguins have been named as trade candidates to watch as the off-season carries on.
This is because Erik Karlsson, Bryan Rust, and Rickard Rakell were all included on Lyle Richardson's latest trade board for Bleacher Report.
Karlsson was given the No. 14 spot on Richardson's trade board. Questions about the 36-year-old's future in Pittsburgh have come up often, so it makes sense that he is being highlighted as a potential trade candidate. The veteran blueliner just had a strong season with the Penguins, too, as he recorded 15 goals, 51 assists, and 66 points in 75 games. He is entering the final season of his deal in 2026-27.
Rust landed the No. 9 spot on Richardson's trade board. It is understandable, as he has come up in the rumor mill often since last summer. The 34-year-old winger would have the potential to get the Penguins a nice return in a move, as he is a proven top-six winger with a bargain $5.125 million cap hit through 2027-28. In 72 games last season, he posted 29 goals and 65 points.
As for Rakell, he landed the No. 8 spot on Richardson's trade board. Like Rust, Rakell is a veteran top-six forward who could be a strong pickup for a contender looking to boost its top six. In 60 games last season for Pittsburgh, he posted 24 goals, 24 assists, and 48 points.
