Which teams could target Rickard Rakell this off-season?
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rickard Rakell has found himself right back in the rumor mill early on this off-season. This comes after the veteran winger was one of the most-talked-about trade candidates from this past summer.
With Rakell coming off another strong season in 2025-26, it is likely that he will generate some interest this summer from teams looking for top-six forward help.
With that, let's look at three teams that could target Rakell this off-season.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators were already in need of another top-six winger before they traded Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers. Now, they should be looking to add at least two of them this off-season. Because of this, it would not be surprising if the Senators considered targeting Rakell this summer. They simply need more offense, and bringing in a veteran forward like Rakell would provide them with just that.
Tampa Bay Lightning
One of the Lightning's top needs heading into the off-season is another right winger. They could use an upgrade over pending UFA forward Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Rakell stands out as an interesting potential option. He could fit perfectly on the Lightning's second line with Jake Guentzel and Brayden Point if acquired.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers could be another team to keep an eye on when it comes to Rakell. They need another top-six forward, and Rakell could make sense for them if they miss out on this year's top UFAs.
