On Monday, the first six players for each country's roster for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games were revealed.
And - as a surprise to no one - one of the greatest players in NHL history will be making yet another international appearance.
For the third time in his career, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will be suiting up for Team Canada at the Olympics, which will take place in Milan, Italy on Feb. 6-22, 2026.
The other five players named to Canada's roster were Edmonton Oilers star forward Connor McDavid, Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart, Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point, and Colorado Avalanche stars in defenseman Cale Makar and forward Nathan MacKinnon.
In his previous two Olympic outings in 2010 (Vancouver) and 2014 (Sochi), he won the gold medal each time - first as an alternate captain, and next, as captain - which includes his famous "Golden Goal" in overtime against the United States in 2010 to claim gold for Team Canada.
'He's A Legend': Sidney Crosby's 4 Nations Performance Inspires Younger Canadian Teammates
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby's performance at the 4 Nations Face-off certainly didn't go unnoticed by teammates.
Crosby, 37, is a member of the Triple Gold Club, as he has won three Stanley Cups, two Olympic golds, and one IIHF World Championship gold. He also won gold while representing Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-off in February, at the World Cup of Hockey in 2016, and at the World Junior Championship in 2005.
In addition, Crosby has the greatest individual international record of all-time, as he is 54-7-2 donning the red and white.
Team captains for the 2026 games - as well as the rest of the rosters - will be announced at later dates.
Report: Penguins, Kings Having Trade Conversations
It has been abundantly clear for quite a while now that three Pittsburgh Penguins are very much on the trade market.
