Defenseman P.O. Joseph Returns to Penguins Lineup

After a handful of healthy scratches, the Pittsburgh Penguins have put P.O. Joseph back to the lineup.

Bryan Rust says he's "feeling wonderful" as he nears his return from injury for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

After multiple games as a healthy scratch, defenseman P.O. Joseph is returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup against the Washington Capitals.

Joseph has sat out the last six contests usually as a Penguins’ healthy scratch but was sick the last few days and missed some practice time.

This will be Joseph’s ninth game of the season and he only has one assist through his first eight appearances.

Joseph will be taking John Ludvig’s spot in the lineup who is a team worst minus-7 also with just one assist.

Ludvig kicked off the Penguins last game with a fight against New York Islanders’ forward Matt Martin in the opening seconds.

According to the Penguins, Ludvig is out of the lineup due to an injury; he took part in the morning skate.

Joseph’s underlying numbers have been solid, despite the production not following and head coach Mike Sullivan acting quickly with the hook.

Penguins’ president and general manager Kyle Dubas has been waiting for someone to take hold of a third pairing defensive spot and run with it, and now this is Joseph’s newest opportunity.

Joseph will play alongside Chad Ruhwedel on the third pairing, the same duo the Penguins entered the season with.
