After missing practice with an illness, Evgeni Malkin has returned to the ice with his Pittsburgh Penguins teammates.
After missing practice with an illness, Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin joins the team for the morning skate ahead of their next contest.
The Penguins take on Metropolitan Division rival New Jersey Devils and will likely have Malkin in their lineup.
Following the win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, Malkin was absent from the following practice.
Head coach Mike Sullivan stated the absence was due to Malkin not feeling well and the team suggesting he stay home.
According to Sullivan, it wasn’t exactly clear if he’s be good to go for the Devils matchup.
Malkin has been one of the Penguins’ most productive players through the first 14 games with eight goals and nine assists for 17 total points.
Those 17 points are good for third on the Penguins behind only Jake Guentzel (18) and Sidney Crosby (19).
Matt Nieto missed the recent practice, as well, and is taking part in the morning skate.
Sullivan classified Nieto's absence as a maintenance day.
Also taking part in morning skate Jeff Carter, Ryan Shea, P.O. Joseph, Chad Ruhwedel, Vinnie Hinostroza, and all three goalies; Tristan Jarry, Magnus Hellberg, and Alex Nedeljkovic.
