Rogle BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) have announced that they have signed former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Mark Friedman to a two-year contract.
Back during the 2020-21 season, Friedman was claimed off waivers by the Penguins from the Philadelphia Flyers. From there, he spent three seasons as a Penguin, where he had four goals, 11 points, 88 hits, and a plus-6 rating. He also played in 28 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL during that three-year span, recording one goal and six points.
Overall, Friedman proved to be a solid depth defenseman during his time with the Penguins. His time in Pittsburgh ended when he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in October 2023.
In 93 career NHL games over seven seasons split between the Flyers, Penguins, and Canucks, Friedman posted four goals, 13 points, 80 penalty minutes, 141 hits, and a plus-3 rating.
