Former Penguins forward Kasperi Kapanen scored a nice goal for the Oilers.
Former Pittsburgh Penguins forward Kasperi Kapanen scored a very nice goal for the Edmonton Oilers in their Thursday night game against the Vancouver Canucks.
While on a shorthanded breakaway, Kapanen successfully pulled off the famous Forsberg deke on Canucks goalie Leevi Merilainen for his first goal of the season.
Although this goal gave the Oilers an 8-2 lead in the second period, it ended up becoming an important one for the game. This is because Edmonton ended up defeating Vancouver by a 9-7 final score. With that, the former Penguins forward's goal surprisingly became the Oilers' game-winner.
Kapanen will now be looking to stay hot for the Oilers after scoring a goal like NHL legend Peter Forsberg. In two games this season for Edmonton, the former Penguins forward now has a goal and an assist.
Kapanen appeared in 162 games over three seasons with the Penguins, where he recorded 29 goals, 53 assists, 82 points, and a plus-9 rating.
