A former Pittsburgh Penguins goalie is hanging up the skates.
The AHL has announced that former Penguins goaltender Dustin Tokarski has retired from professional hockey.
This is not the only big news for Tokarski, though, as he has also been hired by the Carolina Hurricanes as a goalie scout.
Tokarski becoming a goalie scout for the Hurricanes comes after he split last season between the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL), Frankfurt Lions (DEL), and HK Olimpija Ljubljana (ICEHL).
Tokarski is someone the Hurricanes already know, as he played his final six career NHL games for them during the 2024-25 season. He also played in 21 games for the Chicago Wolves that season, posting an 11-8-1 record, an .897 save percentage, and a 2.84 goals-against average.
Tokarski played in four games for Pittsburgh during the 2022-23 season, where he had a 1-2-0 record, an .897 save percentage, and a 3.44 goals-against average. He spent the bulk of his time that season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, though, posting a .910 save percentage and a 2.69 goals-against average in 36 games.
Tokarski also had a previous stint with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, as he had a 9-5-2 record, a 1.97 goals-against average, and a .924 save percentage in 18 games for them during the 2019-20 season.
