One of the greatest of all time took time to take reps with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins had a very special guest at their most recent practice. As part of Celebrate 68 weekend, the Penguins were joined by franchise icon Jaromir Jagr. The future Hall of Famer was given a tour of the practice facility before lacing up his skates and hitting the ice with the current Penguins lineup.
Jagr was a full participant in the practice and showed that even at 52, he can still rip it with some of the best in the world. The speed wasn’t much to write home about, but his shot seemed as lethal as ever.
He may not be in the NHL, but Jagr is still playing professional hockey in his native Czechia. Jagr plays with the team he owns in his hometown of Kladno.
Some of the Penguins players like Kris Letang and Alex Nedeljkovic donned mullet wigs to pay homage to the icon and his famous hairdo from his time in the NHL.
There was a large crowd on hand for the Penguins skate, and while there was definite excitement over Jagr, a majority of the crowd were young kids and continuously cheered for Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
Jagr is in town to have his number 68 retired by the Penguins. Before the puck drops against the Los Angeles Kings, Jagr’s famous name and number will rise to the rafters of PPG Paints Arena.
