The Penguins signed both Connor Dewar and Ilya Solovyov to contract extensions. Who could be next?

The Pittsburgh Penguins made two moves on Thursday, signing both Connor Dewar and Ilya Solovyov to contract extensions.

Due to this, let's take a look at three Penguins who could sign contract extensions next with the Metropolitan Division club.

Anthony Mantha

After an excellent 2025-26 season with the Penguins, Mantha is a prime extension candidate to watch. The 6-foot-5 winger set new career highs with 33 goals, 31 assists, and 64 points in 81 regular-season games. With this, he is certainly an extension candidate for the Penguins. However, he also cooled off during the playoffs, posting just one assist in six games.

Evgeni Malkin

The Penguins are still debating their next move with Malkin. When noting that the 39-year-old forward just had 19 goals and 61 points in 56 games this season with Pittsburgh, the possibility of him sticking around should not be ruled out. It would be nice to see him return for a 21st season in Pittsburgh.

Ryan Shea

After a breakout year with the Penguins, Shea is another extension candidate for Pittsburgh. The left-shot defenseman had a strong year for the Penguins, as he set career highs with six goals, 29 assists, 35 points, and a plus-30 rating.

Egor Chinakhov

With Chinakhov entering the summer as a restricted free agent, he is certainly a player who will be back with the Penguins next season. The 25-year-old winger thrived after being traded to the Penguins during this campaign, as he had 18 goals and 36 points in 43 games.
