This Penguins forward will be looking to impress in 2026-27.
During this past off-season, the Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Justin Brazeau to a two-year, $3 million contract. This was after he posted 11 goals and 22 points in 76 games split between the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild in 2024-25.
Brazeau had a solid 2025-26 season with the Penguins, as he set career highs with 17 goals, 17 assists, and 34 points in 64 games.
However, Brazeau also cooled off as the season went on, as he had just four points in his final 14 games. He was also held off the scoresheet in each of his last seven regular-season games and only suited up for one of Pittsburgh's playoff games.
With how last season ended for Brazeau, it is clear that the 2026-27 season is an important one for him. He will be looking to bounce back from his quiet finish to the 2025-26 season, and this is especially so when noting that he is entering a contract year.
If Brazeau regains the form he had during the first half of the 2025-26 season this campaign and stays consistent, it will help his chances of landing a raise for his next contract. That remains the case whether he extends with the Penguins or ends up testing the market next summer.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what kind of season Brazeau has in 2026-27 from here.
