The Penguins should consider pursuing Avalanche forward Jack Drury this off-season.
The Pittsburgh Penguins should be looking to strengthen their roster during the off-season. One specific area that they could look to improve is their forward group.
Due to this, one player who the Penguins should consider making a push for this off-season is Colorado Avalanche forward Jack Drury.
Drury is a pending restricted free agent (RFA) and will be due for a raise from his current $1.73 million cap hit. Due to this, it is fair to wonder if he will be a player that the Avalanche will listen to offers for during the summer because of their limited cap space. If they end up being open to dealing Drury, the Penguins should consider kicking tires on him.
Drury is a smart two-way center who would have the potential to be a nice addition to the Penguins' bottom six if acquired. The 26-year-old forward had a strong season with the Avalanche, as he recorded 10 goals, 17 assists, 27 points, 56 blocks, and a plus-15 rating in 82 games. With numbers like these, the five-year veteran could be a solid fit on the Penguins.
Drury would also give the Penguins another good penalty killer to work with because of his solid two-way play. He is also just 26 years old, so he would be a good fit on a team that is focused on both the present and the future like the Penguins.
