Should the Penguins look to bring in Shane Wright?
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made multiple moves this off-season, but they should still be looking to add more players to their roster. When looking at their group, it is clear that they could use another impactful forward.
Because of this, the Penguins are now being viewed as a potential trade fit for one of the NHL's top trade candidates.
In a recent article for Daily Faceoff, Mike Gould named the Penguins as a top potential landing spot for Seattle Kraken forward Shane Wright.
When noting that Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are in their late 30s, it is clear that they could use a young and skilled center like Wright for both the present and the future.
If the Penguins acquired Wright, he could slot nicely on their second line with Yegor Chinakhov and Evgeni Malkin. Furthermore, due to his offensive upside, Wright would be an obvious option for the Penguins' power play if acquired.
Wright could also benefit from playing with a superstar like Crosby. No. 87 could be an excellent mentor for Wright as he looks to break out and prove that he can emerge as a star in the NHL. The same can be said about Malkin.
In 74 games last season with the Kraken, Wright posted 12 goals and 27 points. This was after he set career highs with 19 goals, 25 assists, and 44 points in 79 games during the 2024-25 season.
