The Pittsburgh Penguins got some welcome news during Friday's practice.
The Pittsburgh Penguins held their second-straight practice on Friday before Saturday's home opener against the Montreal Canadiens.
All expected healthy players were on the ice, and they were once again joined by Ben Kindel, who is still considered week-to-week with an injury.
He practiced fully for a second day in a row, and head coach Dan Muse told reporters he looked good, but the team still needs to have some conversations about his availability for Saturday's game.
Andrei Kuzmenko also rejoined his teammates after flying back from Russia following the death of his father. He's also rocking a new number (No. 62). Kuzmenko skated on a line with Kindel and Connor Dewar during practice.
Here are what the forward lines and defensive pairs looked like:
Forwards
Robertson-Crosby-Rakell
Chinkahov-Novak-Malkin
Koivunen-Lapierre-Hallander
Dewar-Kindel-Kuzmenko
Defense
Carlile-Karlsson
Girard-Korczak
van Riemsdyk-Letang
Elmer Soderblom was an extra with David Gustafsson, which suggests he could be a healthy scratch on Saturday. Soderblom skated on the fourth line with Dewar and Blake Lizotte during Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Lizotte is still day-to-day with an injury and didn't skate with the team on Friday. He's likely out for Saturday's game.
Puck drop for Saturday's contest will be at 7 p.m. ET on SportsNet Pittsburgh.
