Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Carter Sanderson continues to be unreal at the start of the season.
It's Carter Sanderson's world and we're just living in it.
A little over two weeks ago, I wrote about how great he was to open the season for the WHL's Calgary Hitmen. In just three games, he scored five goals and totaled eight points. His fifth goal came off a beautiful three-on-two rush.
He also registered a hat trick in just his second WHL game.
Well, fast-forward to Wednesday night, and he had compiled 11 goals and 15 points in seven games. He then registered two goals and three points in the first period of the Hitmen's game against the Penticton Vees.
He scored his first goal from the net front, and his second from just inside the blue line. It looked like it fooled the Vees' goaltender, but it made it 3-0 for Calgary.
The Hitmen then held on to win, 4-3.
Sanderson now leads the WHL in goals with 13 and has 18 points in only eight games to start the season.
He's showing why he's better than a lot of the players he's going up against and continues to have an outstanding 2026.
Sanderson was great for the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjackets in 2025-26, finishing with 17 goals and 34 points in 54 games. He was so good that he was invited to the World Junior Summer Showcase, where he played very well.
If he keeps this up, he'll have a very good chance of making this season's Team USA World Junior team.
After this season, Sanderson will play for the University of North Dakota in 2027-28.
