The Pittsburgh Penguins have added a lot of new players to their roster. However, when looking at their current group, it is fair to argue that they could use more depth. 

While many of this year's top unrestricted free agents (UFAs) have been signed at this stage in the summer, there are still some interesting players available for the taking. One of them is forward Eeli Tolvanen, and he could be a solid player for the Penguins to take a chance on. 

If the Penguins signed Tolvanen, he would provide their forward group with another player who not only chips in secondary offensive production but also a lot of grit. Furthermore, at just 27 years old, he is still young enough that he could be a good fit on a retooling Penguins club. 

Tolvanen spent last season with the Seattle Kraken, where he posted 12 goals, 36 points, and 187 hits. With numbers like these, he could be a solid addition to the Penguins' third line if they successfully brought him in. 

Tolvanen also scored a career-high 23 goals during the 2024-25 season and recorded a career-high 41 points in 2023-24. With this, he has shown that he can provide decent offense when playing at his best and could be worth taking a gamble on for the Penguins.
