Could Anthony Mantha be the next former Penguin to head to Winnipeg?

After not re-signing with the Pittsburgh Penguins by July 1, Anthony Mantha remains an unrestricted free agent. He is arguably the top UFA still on the market, so it should only be a matter of time before he lands his next contract.

In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox predicted that Mantha would end up signing with the Winnipeg Jets this summer.

When looking at the Jets' roster, it is fair to argue that they could use another winger in their top six. This has been the case since they lost Nikolaj Ehlers to the Carolina Hurricanes last year in free agency. Because of this, it would make sense if they targeted Mantha, who just posted 33 goals, 31 assists, and 64 points last season for Pittsburgh.

If the Jets signed Mantha, he could work well on their second line with Cole Perfetti and Adam Lowry. He would also give them another clear option to work with on their power play due to his scoring ability.

However, with Mantha being the best UFA forward still on the market, multiple teams should be interested in him right now. It will be intriguing to see where the big winger ends up. If he signed with the Jets, he would be the second UFA that Pittsburgh lost to them this off-season. This is because Stuart Skinner signed with Winnipeg earlier this month.
