The Pittsburgh Penguins have moved Alex Nedeljkovic to injured reserve while recalling Magnus Hellberg and Corey Andonovski.
After a relatively healthy start to the 2023-24 NHL season, the Pittsburgh Penguins have been hit with their first bout of injuries.
Following their loss to the Dallas Stars, the Penguins have placed goalie Alex Nedeljkovic on injured reserve after being evaluated for a lower-body injury.
In place of Nedeljkovic, Magnus Hellberg was recalled from the AHL along with forward Corey Andonovski.
According to head coach Mike Sullivan, Nedeljkovic suffered the injury during the loss to the Stars, but finished the game.
Hellberg has played 23 NHL games in his career and holds a 7-8-1 record.
Forward Radim Zohorna was also re-assigned by the Penguins to the AHL.
Nedeljkovic was suiting up in his second game with the Penguins since being signed as a free agent over summer.
In his two games, he recorded a 1-1-0 record with his win coming against the Calgary Flames.
Zohorna had put together a good training camp and preseason, but started the year in the AHL.
In a pair of games at the NHL level this season, Zohorna has scored a goal.
Andonovski has been with the Penguins organization since the 2021-22 season and is yet to make his NHL debut.
