The Pittsburgh Penguins have diagnosed rookie defenseman John Ludvig with a concussion.
After leaving his NHL debut early following an ugly scene, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman John Ludvig has been diagnosed with a concussion.
Following an afternoon practice, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed the concussion but not much more beyond the diagnosis.
Sullivan said he was unable to give any more of a status update beyond the concussion.
“That’s a tough circumstance,” Sullivan said. “We’ll work with him here and our medical staff will do their very best to get him back in a timely fashion.”
With an uncertain timeline for return, it is likely Ludvig will be moved to injured reserve in the near future, opening up a roster spot for the Penguins.
Before the attempted hit that took Ludvig out of the game, he had logged 5:29 of ice time and was impressing the Penguins coaching staff.
Ludvig recorded a total of two hits and a shot on goal.
