PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins may be on the verge of getting more national exposure across Canada. The NHL announced a two-year agreement with Amazon that all regular season Monday night games will be aired exclusively on Prime Video in Canada.
The deal is the NHL’s first exclusive national broadcast package, streaming only. The “Prime Monday Night Hockey” package will have a new broadcast team.
According to a release from the NHL, “Prime Monday Night Hockey will stream all national regular season Monday night NHL games in English for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 NHL seasons.”
The NHL has had a streaming partnership for NHL games with ESPN+ and Hulu within the United States since 2021-22.
Any time the Penguins take to the ice on a Monday, they can be easily viewed by a national audience in Canada. With plenty of international tournaments on the horizon for the NHL and its players, there is sure to be a lot of attention geared toward Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.
In 2013, Rogers Communications signed a 12-year agreement with the NHL, saying that adding Amazon to the fold would only build on their relationship while bringing fans closer to the game.
