PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired a conditional seventh-round pick from the 2026 NHL Draft in exchange for Rem Pitlick.

Currently the leading point scorer with the Penguins AHL affiliate, Pitlick was aquired by the Penguins in the three team trade that brought Erik Karlsson to Pittsburgh.

Pitlick has spent the entire 2023-24 season with the WBS Penguins and scored eight goals and 16 assists for 24 total points in 32 games.

Those 24 points are good to lead the WBS Penguins and two more than Ty Smith with 22 who is second.

Pitlick has one year left on his NHL contract that earns him $1.1 million against the salary cap.

The Blackawks currently have an injured reserve that could rival a legitimate starting lineup, which includes rookie sensation Connor Bedard who was just added with a fractured jaw.

With eight forwards on IR, Pitlick has a chance to reach the NHL roster with the Blackhawks.

In 123 career games in the NHL, Pitlick has scored 21 goals and 33 assists for 54 total points.

Pitlick was likely never going to break the Penguins NHL roster thanks to his increased price tag and a few solid forwards who have stepped ahead of him in the depth chart.
