Patric Hornqvist had many of his career highlights as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Had it not been for Patric Hornqvist, the Pittsburgh Penguins would not have been able to win back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017.

During his 407 games with the Penguins, Hornqvist was not only a consistent force on offense, but one of the most important players on the ice.

After a string of unfortunate concussions that held him to only 22 games in the 2022-23 season, Hornqvist is officially hanging up the skates and retiring from hockey.

The Penguins tweeted a highlight package to congratulate Hornqvist on a great career and show appreciation for what he brought to Pittsburgh.

Hornqvist scored the final goal on an empty net of the 2016 Cup run while potting the game winner the following year.

During his 901-game NHL career, Hornqvist recorded three hat tricks, all of which came with the Penguins; one against the New York Rangers in the opening round of the 2016 playoffs.

Hornqvist’s last career hat trick came on December 4th, 2018 against the Colorado Avalanche and it stands at the fastest hat trick in Penguins’ history.

The Penguins and Avalanche entered the third period tied at 3-3; In the matter of 2:47, Hornqvist put up three goals to give the Penguins a 6-3 lead.

All three of the goals weren’t the hardest of shots to stop, but you’ll take a goal any way you can get it.

Despite missing most of his final season dealing with concussions, Hornqvist played a huge role in the Florida Panthers’ locker room as they made their way all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Penguins were a different team when Hornqvist was on the ice, he brought a vibe and an on-ice presence they are still trying to replace.
