It’s Time for the Penguins To Go All in on Erik Karlsson

If the Pittsburgh Penguins want Erik Karlsson, they should do whatever it takes to get him.

If he remains on the Penguins, could Mikael Granlund be a fit as the team's third line center?

With the roster just about set for the Pittsburgh Penguins, fans won’t stop banging the drum for one last improvement.

Penguins fans everywhere are waiting for the final conclusion of the Erik Karlsson sweepstakes.

Kyle Dubas has been involved in discussions to acquire the Norris Trophy winning defenseman since at least the Draft, and now is the time to push all of the chips on the table.

The Penguins are reportedly one of two teams remaining in the running for Karlsson, and Dubas needs to be the first to pull the trigger.

Dubas joined Pittsburgh and didn’t want to sacrifice the future of the organization; to land Karlsson, he might not have a choice.

No matter what happens with the Karlsson deal, the Penguins aren’t designed to be a good team once Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang call it a career, why not give them an elite-level offensive defenseman to keep their championship window open a little longer?

Adding Karlsson would do more than just add a bunch of skill to the locker room, it would bring a new ray of hope for a team that seemed to be lost in the ocean last year.

Fans weren’t happy, ownership wasn’t happy, and the locker room needed a jolt; Dubas can provide that with Karlsson.

Through his signings, the Penguins definitely got better, but none of them are ringing endorsements to put butts in seats.

Karlsson on the other hand, is a guy that will sell tickets and revitalize a stale team.

The Penguins are competing with the Carolina Hurricanes in the battle for Karlsson, but the Hurricanes seem to have their sights set on a number of different players.

While Karlsson is on their radar, they are still looking to land Vladimir Tarasenko, will be acquiring Tony DeAngelo within a couple of days, and will have to give Sebastian Aho a raise next year.

Moving Brett Pesce might help them afford Karlsson, but does reuniting Karlsson with Brent Burns really help?

If Dubas and the Penguins really want Karlsson, they need to go all in right now and get the deal done.
