There should be no shortage of goals scored between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars.

RW Bryan Rust discusses the Pittsburgh Penguins need to correct mistakes from winless road trip.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are early in their hunt for a return to the postseason, but they aren’t proud of the way their season has started.

While the Penguins look to get themselves back on track, they play host to a sneaky Stanley Cup favorite in the Dallas Stars.

These two teams face off at the 7:30 time slot of the NHL’s ‘Frozen Frenzy,’ and is sure to be one of the higher scoring matchups of the night.

According to The Hockey News’ learning AI model, Kevin, the Penguins and Stars are one of only three games to exceed an expected goal total of seven.

At a clean 7.0, the Penguins are looking to bounce back from a rough start and the Stars are emerging as one of the most offensively talented teams in the NHL.

Despite a home-ice advantage, the Penguins do enter the contest as underdogs with a 47% win probability.

That kind of expected goals number makes sense, even just from a Penguins perspective.

Evgeni Malkin has scored a goal in four straight games and will look to continue his dominate pace and one of the few consistent producers for the Penguins.

Bryan Rust is also off to a good goal scoring start with four goals in five games and was just pushed to the top power play unit.

The Penguins hope to see some help from their bottom six but will need to find a momentum shifting win against a gifted team on the first night of a four-game home stand.
