The Pittsburgh Penguins have started sending invites to youngsters for the annual development camp.

PITTSBURGH – While a full list of names are far out from being announced, the Pittsburgh Penguins appear to have started sending out invitations for the upcoming development camp. A date and roster will be announced likely following the NHL draft, but at least one name is catching the Penguins’ eyes.

According to Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal, the Penguins have invited Ryan St. Louis to development camp. The Brown University forward is the son of Hockey Hall of Famer, and current Montreal Canadiens head coach, Martin St. Louis.

Ryan is 20 years old and just finished his first season with Brown, playing in 30 games and scoring 24 total points. As a member of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL in 2022-23, he posted 72 points (30G-42A) in 58 games.

Before jumping behind the bench in Montreal, Martin played 16 seasons in the NHL, posting 1,033 career points. Spending the vast majority of his career in the Eastern Conference, the Penguins saw plenty of St. Louis. In 54 career regular season games against the Penguins, he scored 19 goals and 52 total points.

An invitation to a development camp does not secure any sort of contract or deal with the Penguins, but it will give them a good chance to scout him up close.
