The Pittsburgh penguins have listed a key forward as a game-time decision against the Ottawa Senators.
PITTSBURGH – After missing three games with a concussion, the Pittsburgh Penguins are likely getting Drew O’Connor back into their lineup. O’Connor took part in the Penguins’ morning skate before their contest with the Ottawa Senators, and took reps on the second forward line.
Following the practice, Penguins’ head coach Mike Sullivan stated O’Connor would be a game-time decision.
O’Connor skated on the second right wing with Evgeni Malkin and Reilly Smith, the same spot he was in when he left the lineup. The Penguins have lost all three games without O’Connor.
The Penguins never removed O’Connor from the active roster while he was out but are still likely making room for him in the lineup. Forward Jonathan Gruden was placed on waivers, and if he clears, will likely be sent to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
In the morning skate, Gruden and fellow forward Jesse Puljujarvi rotated with defensemen John Ludvig and P.O. Joseph.
In 60 games played this season, O’Connor has scored nine goals and 12 assists for 21 total points. Leading up to his injury, O’Connor was held from the score sheet completely in five straight games.
