Penguins Rule Out Forward Against Blue Jackets
The Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets down a forward.
PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Penguins believe they still have some fight left in them as they see their playoff hopes slipping away. Rising a three-game losing streak, the Penguins’ next challenge comes back at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
As the two bottom teams in the Metropolitan Division battle it out, the Penguins will be without depth center Noel Acciairi.
Acciari was the only skater of note missing from the Penguins’ morning skate and head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that he was being evaluated for an upper-body injury and was ruled out against the Blue Jackets.
The 2023-24 season is Acciari’s first season with the Penguins and he’s been a perfectly respectable depth center. He hasn’t provided much offense, but the Penguins have enjoyed his defensive acumen and ability on the penalty kill.
In the Penguins’ last contest against the Edmonton Oilers, Acciari’s injury wasn’t obvious. He finished the contest playing just over 15 minutes of ice time.
Jansen Harkins, however, did not finish the game and was later stated as being evaluated for an upper-body injury. Sullivan said he is a game-time decision against the Jackets, likely meaning he’ll be in the lineup.
