With players slowly returning to health, the Pittsburgh Penguins have started to send names back to the AHL.

It seems as if the Pittsburgh Penguins will be getting Rickard Rakell back in the lineup agains the Toronto Maple Leafs

In order to make space for Rakell, the Penguins need to clear some space and forward Vinnie Hinostroza seems to be the odd man out.

First reported by Elliotte Friedman, Hinostroza has been placed on waivers.

During his stint in the NHL lineup, Hinostroza wasn’t seeing the ice every game.

When Hinostroza first cracked the lineup, he had a good start, but the success hasn’t followed as of late.

In 12 total games played this year, Hinostroza has scored a goal and two assists for three total points.

With Hinostroza likely heading back to the AHL, the Penguins are sticking with other depth names like Jansen Harkins and Radim Zohorna for the time being.

Valtteri Puustinen is also still riding the NHL train on the Penguins second line with Evgeni Malkin.

The Penguins are also still without forwards Noel Acciari and Matt Nieto.
